Deerfield Meeting 4/10/12:
Over 100 people attended a meeting of concerned citizens at the Deerfield Community School to hear from opponents to the Northern Pass project in a moderated panel discussion.
Introduction
The meeting opened with Erika Heilman, past chair of the Northern Pass Advisory Committee along with Doug Leavitt, who served as moderator, welcoming the crowd.
Jack Savage
Jack Savage of the Society for Protection of NH Forests gave an overview of Northern Pass, their opposition to it and discussed a lot of the questions that remain unanswered.l
Doug Leavitt
Doug Leavitt introduced each of the panel members: Jim Dannis, Peter Martin, Jack Savage, Tom Irwin and Jim Monahan.
Tom Irwin
Director of Conservation Law Foundation New Hampshire answered a question from Doug Leavitt about the claims that Northern Pass is "clean, reneable energy" and if that means replacing the coal power plants in NH.
Jim Monahan
Jim Monahan of the DuPont Group answered a question from Doug Leavitt about the claim of Northern Pass lowering energy prices.
Jim Dannis
Jim Dannis, resident of Dalton and lifelong resident of NH answered a question from Doug Leavitt about what Northern Pass could do to property values.
Peter Martin
Peter Martin, resident of Plymouth answered a question from Doug Leavitt about the menthod of transmission of electricity via Northern Pass. Other panelists jumped in with their thoughts as well.

Jack Savage of the Forest Society answered a question from Doug Leavitt about what can Deerfield resident do about Northern Pass? Other panelists jumped in with their thoughts as well.

Erick Gross, resident of Deerfield asked about the feasability of burying transmission lines.
Lisa Wolford
Lisa Wolford, resident of Deerfield, asked about Gary Long's (CEO of PSNH) public statements about how we are all part of a regional power grid.

Ron Charland, resident of Deerfield, asked about the height of the proposed lines.
