Public Scoping Meeting- Franklin 3/15/11:
The U.S. Dept. of Energy held the second in a series of Public Scoping Meetings on the Northern Pass Project. They held their second one in Franklin. There were approximately 350 in attendance.

Brian Mills of the Dept. of Energy gave the opening remarks about how the process works, what they will consider from the testimony given, and the public comment periods.

Ken Merrifield, Mayor of Franklin spoke in favor of Northern Pass.

Elizabeth Dragon
Elizabeth Dragon, City Manager of Franklin spoke in favor of Northern Pass.

Ted Cidley
Ted Cidley gave some recommendations to the Dept. of Energy about the process.

Brad Smith
Brad Smith, Fire Chief of Franklin spoke in favor of Northern Pass.

Denise Thibault
Denise Thibault, resident of Franklin talked about two properties she has that will see the power lines. Read story about the family farm on page 2.

Dave Dobbins
Dave Dobbins of Gilford talked about ROWs and the Scobie Pond proposal from a few years ago.

Danielle Barker of Franklin accsed the opposition of being selfish.

Ruth Niven of Franklin said that existing ROW can still hurt.
